FOUNDED IN 2022
RAGIONI TECNICHE was founded by George Magalios in 2022. Mr. Magalios is an artist from Montreal who moved to Venice three days before the pandemic arrived in 2020.
The name Ragioni Tecniche comes from the Italian term meaning “Technical Reasons,” and was inspired by a sign outside the 2019 Venice Biennale that explained why an exhibition was closed to the public.
Ragioni Tecniche is a contemporary art space dedicated to experimentation and to the reconfiguration of notions of painting, sculpture and other forms of work in the current day.
Ragioni Tecniche is located in Campo San Beneto in the San Marco sestiere of Venice. The gallery is situated across from the Palazzo Fortuny
Ragioni Tecniche works with curators across the world and across Italy for a fresh perspective on every exhibition.
Dedicated to promoting intellectual and spiritual exchanges among the Venetian community Ragioni Tecniche hosts a variety of events such as talks, concerts, parties and readings.
To understand the contemporary art world one must begin with the position that “contemporary art” is an ideology more than a term used to define sculpture, painting, performance and photography of the ever-fleeting present day.
RAGIONI TECNICHE was founded as a challenge, a questioning of the contemporary art ideology:
- Can artists make intellectually-provocative work while examining the changing face of our political and organic world?
- Can a gallery promulgate artists who challenge the contemporary art ideology and articulate a plurality of vision?
- Can Ragioni Tecniche contribute to the community of Venice aesthetically, intellectually and spiritually?
Our goal is to affirm these challenges every day and bring joyful, harmonious and provocative aesthetic experiences to Venice and to our world as we provide a stage upon which artists recite their dramaturgies on a stage of their own production.
